This diving Internship is designed for those of you who are PADI Rescue diver’s and want to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in the shortest amount of time. This 4-week course will take you through the Divemaster Course, the Instructor Development Course and finally the Instructors Exams.
You can begin the theory segments of these Scuba classes by completing the E-Learning segments for both Divemaster and IDC level. There is also a section online where you can study for and complete Dive Theory. This will make things easier for you when you arrive on Grand Cayman for your courses as you will spend less time in the classroom and more of your Internship underwater.

Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational scuba diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program. Working closely with Go Pro Cayman’s experienced PADI Instructors you will expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. PADI Divemaster is the prerequisite certification for both the PADI Assistant Instructor and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certifications.
During the Divemaster program with Go Pro Cayman you will learn how to observe, assist and supervise diving activities. Your diving skills will be tested and perfected. There are a series of academic lectures covering a variety of diving related subjects. You will complete a series of in-water stamina exercises, you will prepare an underwater map, perfect your rescue diver skills, your Scuba Instructor will also show you how to manage groups on boat dives and also give clear & complete dive briefings. This is a very serious responsibility that must be learned properly ensuring divers safety both on the boats and in the water is your number one concern as a PADI Divemaster. The diving is done from both shore and boats giving you a wide variety of dive sites throughout your Internship
This Scuba Internship culminates with the PADI Instructor Development Course which is conducted by highly experienced PADI Platinum Course Director Ash McKnight. This is where you learn to teach the PADI system of diver education. The purpose of the IDC is not only to prepare you to pass the Instructors Exams but also to prepare you for your new career in diving, this internship will prepare you well for this. As with all the courses at Go Pro Cayman, the classroom session are relaxed yet fun and informative. The Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program is one of two distinct components of PADI’s Instructor Development Course (IDC)—the core of PADI Instructor training.
The Instructor Development Course has an 8 day duration. It introduces you to the entire PADI System of diver education and concentrates on further developing your abilities as a professional dive educator.
Your professional instructors will be on hand ready to help you through every step of the course, giving additional guidance as needed. You will also gain your Emergency First Response Instructor and your Emergency Oxygen Provider Instructor ratings.

The fun part of instructor training is interacting with course participants while creating friendships that continue long after the course concludes.
You’ll begin networking with other professionals and begin to explore PADI Pro Diving Jobs worldwide. You’ll also have the opportunity to continue your professional education by participating in specialty instructor courses, which train you to teach specialties after instructor certification.
We will be offering Speciality Instructor ratings at the conclusion of the IDC & IE. As an Instructor having Speciality Instructor ratings will put you in a select group of professionals who have much more to offer a prospective employer. Complete Go Pro Cayman’s Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) program to give yourself the edge over the competition in the job hunt. During the MSDT program you will gain 5 Speciality Instructor ratings and once you are a certified Dive Instructor you can begin offering these courses to your excited new clients!
